​To Celebrate 200 years of Methodism in Outlane the Church Council have invited previous Ministers to return to take a service and on Sunday 12th March Rev David Bidnall will be returning to lead the service at Outlane Methodist Church. David was Minister at Outlane and Superintendent minister for the Circuit for many years so Outlane would like to invite anyone who wishes to see David to come to this service.

Easter Celebration
Sunday 2nd April 2023 @7pm Huddersfield Town Hall
 
Hope Huddersfield are hosting an Easter Celebration at Huddersfield Town Hall. We will welcome J John and Gaz Thompson as special guests.  This will be evangelistic in focus so a perfect opportunity to intentionally invite friends, family and neighbours.  I have attached some promotional material for Facebook, Instagram and your church Notices.  We are still working out with the Town Hall how best to organise tickets but we wanted you to be able to share the exciting news!

The first is a short interview with J John and Steve Hurd from Hope Huddersfield, as he talks about the event and how to invite people, the second is a shorter 30 second talking head recording which will give a flavour of what to expect on the night, we would love for you to show this in your churches.

As we prepare for this event there will be several prayer events:

• Saturday 18th March @ 9.30am at Kirkheaton Parish Church there will be an all age and family friendly time to come together and pray for the event.
• Sunday 19th March @6.30pm at Elim Huddersfield will be a time of worship and prayer  
  
• Sunday 26th March @7.30am at Castle Hill, we will take the opportunity to pray over our town, as the Easter Celebration event gets closer.

This year the Circuit project is Action for Children and during Lent we have some leaflets available which have some thoughts for each day during Lent, giving us information, asking for our thoughts, speak to friends or family and on some days make a donation for specific reasons.
 
We are a few leaflets still at church, however if you need one please contact David Schofield, or print the leaflet (attached).
 
We are asking for leaflets and any donations to be passed to David before the end of April, so that these can be passed on to the Circuit. There is an opportunity to Gift Aid in your donation if you pay UK income tax, as long as you complete and return the back of the leaflet.

To Celebrate 200 years of Methodism in Outlane the Church Council have invited previous Ministers to return to take a service and on Sunday 4th December Rev Rob Hilton will be returning to lead the service. Rob was Minister at Outlane and Lindley for many years so the church members would like to invite anyone from your church who remembers Rob to join Outlane at their service of celebration. A faith lunch will follow the service which all the congregation are welcome to join with.

District Facebook Page. The District Office has recently set-up a Facebook group for those across our District. They hope this will be a space for sharing good news, local events and ideas for supporting church and mission from across the Yorkshire West District. You can find the group here: Yorkshire West Methodists | Facebook

​Saturday 19th November, Lindley Christmas Market will be coming to Lindley Methodist Church. Stalls will be open from 10am-3pm including a wide range of crafts, gifts, food as well as tea and coffee available. Everyone welcome to come along.

Two Truths in One Land – The Road to Reconciliation. This is a free talk at Huddersfield University on 24th November in which Rabbi Hanan Schlesinger and Palestinian Noor Awad discuss their personal experience of life in the West Bank and their hopes for reconciliation moving forward. The event is free, but a place should be booked online at

Huddersfield Mission are hosting a concert by the Rock Choir on Saturday 26th November. Doors open 6.30pm for 7.30pm start. Tickets £5. Contact [email protected]

Netherton Methodist Church are kicking off the festive season with their annual band concert featuring the Meltham and Meltham Mills Band, Saturday 26th November, 3pm. Tickets £8 inc refreshments. Details on the poster attached.

Dalton St Paul's is holding a memorial service for those who have lost loved ones recently. It will be on Wednesday 30th November 6.30pm followed by refreshments.

The United Church, Marsden invite you to their pantomime – Harr(v)y Po(r)tter and the Christmas Star. Shows are on Saturday 26th November at 3pm and 7pm. Tickets £3 adult/£2 children, available from 07984279984. Poster attached. 

The United Church, Marsden are also holding their nativity display this year and welcome contributions from anyone:
"We are holding our Nativity display event again this year on Saturday 3rd December. It would be lovely if the other churches or individuals have anything nativity related that they would like included in our display. This can be brought to the church (bottom of Peel St, Marsden, HD7 6AB) throughout the week leading up to the event, on arrangement and can be collected on Sunday 4th or returned throughout the following week.”

Community Cards collect greetings cards all year round to upcycle and make into new which are then sold with surplus money going to the Welcome Centre. Please consider collecting them in your Church and either taking to the Welcome Centre depot in Lockwood or phone Mairi on 852300 who will arrange collection.  Thank you.
